A big congratulations to Rachel Alvey of Madison High School and Sophia Laurenzi of Montville High School, pictured above left to right with their teachers, who advanced to the state finals after this morning’s Poetry Out Loud.
Hosted this morning at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest created to encourage the nation's youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. Presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, the contest aims to help students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.
